An investment firm license is required for providing most investment services, including receiving and transmitting orders related to investment instruments, executing orders for investment instruments on behalf of customers, trading in investment instruments on one’s own account, wealth management, or investment advice.

We distinguish several categories of investment firms, and the complexity of the CNB licensing process depends on these categories:

• investment firm with a full license and the ability to accept customer assets (initial capital of EUR 730,000),
• investment firm with a limited license and the ability to accept customer assets (initial capital of EUR 125,000),
• investment firm with a license without the ability to accept customer assets (initial capital of EUR 50,000).

Holders of the CNB license for investment firms include, for example, WOOD & Company, Patria Finance, or RSJ.
