Who Needs This License?

A small-scale electronic money issuer license is required for companies that issue electronic money. Typically, this includes prepaid cards, payment wristbands, virtual vouchers, digital tokens, and some payment systems or e-wallets.

This is known as a “small license” – unlike an electronic money institution, a small-scale electronic money issuer has a limit of €5 million in issued electronic money on average over the last six months.
